There are numerous articles floating around social media encouraging women to “embrace those thighs.” Why? Because we squat. We are fit. And our thighs our proof of how hard we work. So what if we wear yoga pants 24/7 and can’t fit into a pair of jeans? We have jeans specifically made for us! How many other people can say that?
Thankfully most of us are able to turn the negative into a positive. We realize all our hard work has resulted in diesel quads and we are not ashamed. But when did that mindset change? When did we stop looking in the mirror, growling at the way our body looked? When did we start looking in the mirror in excitement that yet again, we can’t fit into a pair of jeans?
This topic is very controversial…
Is it ok for a non fit person to embrace those thighs? How about to embrace that gut? This can start a huge debate because not everyone sees eye to eye. If we stop looking the mirror for a second we can see that CrossFit has not only changed the way we look it has changed the way we look at things.
CrossFit has helped so many people feel comfortable in their own skin. Some have lost weight, some have gained weight, some have lost inches, some can stand up straight, some can run, some can touch their toes. Whatever the reason may be, CrossFit has given people a new level of confidence. The community atmosphere in itself has given people (who may not always have) an opportunity to meet and talk to people.
We are loving all the new faces that have been coming in. Members who have motivated friends and family to come and try CrossFit. Our goal is to make these people feel the same way we do! With all the new members that have been coming in, take a minute to welcome them. Encourage them to step outside (well really inside) the box. Make them feel comfortable. Help them embrace CrossFit…just like us!
